ONE Freedom is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that provides education and training on stress and trauma resolution with a focus on self-empowerment and regulation. Our programs are designed to promote understanding, strength and resilience in the face of stress or trauma.
ONE Freedom provides programs in communities near military installations across the nation. We currently offer programs in Colorado Springs and Denver, CO and in 2009 will be expanding into North Carolina, New York, Texas, Illinois and Florida.
To date ONE Freedom programs have been offered primarily in Colorado near Fort Carson, both on the installation and in the surrounding community, and through the Colorado National Guard where we are a designated regional provider for post-deployment and reintegration needs. ONE Freedom has also delivered programs in California, Washington DC, Kentucky, Virginia and West Virginia. In addition, our trainers and program developers have presented at national symposia.
ONE Freedom programs currently support military service members, veterans, military families and the care providers who support them. Our long term vision is to reach beyond the military and serve all those who experience stress and trauma with education and training that transform challenging life-experiences into strength.
Severely injured refers to service members who suffered blindness, total hearing loss, an amputation, severe body burns, traumatic brain injury or a spinal cord injury. ONE Freedom works with the full spectrum of veterans although our programs are currently designed for those who are out of crisis and prepared for learning new life skills.
Does ONE Freedom help veterans and service members who are not severely injured?
Yes. ONE Freedom is an advocate for all veterans. If we don't have the service you need we have a referral network through the Coalition for Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans.
Our funding priorities begin with the programs that directly support military service members and their families, next is the administrative structure that allows us to offer those programs, and finally the research and development that refines our current programs and creates new ones in service to our mission. If you designate a specific area of application, the money will go first to that need.
If you specify an area of application (training, administration, DVD, etc.), we will apply your donation in that area. If the donation is general or unmarked, we will use it in the area of greatest need.
Why should I publicize ONE Freedom to my community?
The more people know about ONE Freedom on the Front Range here in Colorado, the more soldiers and families we can reach, the more resources we can bring to bear to help the returning veteran and his or her family. ONE Freedom is expanding nationally through a series of outreach projects in 2009 and 2010.
ONE Freedom is a 501 c 3 non profit organization, so your donation is deductible to the extent allowed by law; please consult with your accountant or tax advisor regarding specifics. ONE Freedom will provide you an acknowledgement letter confirming the amount and date of donation that will serve as a receipt.
Our team has met with Department of Defense officials, leaders in Congress, and officials in the Veterans Administration (VA). We are working to make our programs more accessible to them, such as offering training close to military installations, to VA Vet Centers and care providers, and to garner Congressional support for demonstration projects.
ONE Freedom is non-political and takes no stance on war in general or the current conflicts specifically. Our only priority is to support our nation's military service members, their families and communities.
At a time when solutions are in demand, ONE Freedom provides a cutting-edge approach to eliminating stigma and normalizing the experience of the stress and trauma response in individuals, families and community structures, and teaches an empowering model of awareness, knowledge and action.
Both, we are already delivering programs and services along the Front Range of Colorado. We deliver ongoing programs at places like Ft Carson Colorado, Buckley AFB, Peterson AFB , Washington DC, and South Carolina to name a few.
Should I give cash, time or professional services?
It depends, are you willing to donate money, volunteer your time, or both? ONE Freedom is always looking for volunteers to spread the message. We are also looking for professionals in all fields who may be able to donate professional services to a service member and their family or to provide 'in kind' donations to the organization.
To volunteer time, contact ONE Freedom to find out what our current volunteer needs are and find a way to stay involved on a regular basis.
Decide if you will make a lump sum contribution or spread cash donations out over time.
Contact ONE Freedom to find out how to make either type of donation.
